Name: Lorina Traire
Age: 14
Gender: Girl
Member of: District 3
Appearance: Lorina is an average, fourteen-year old girl, who was built to be tall and skinny from the lack of food and working. Her skin had a light tan, and her hair a deep coffee brown. Being in District 3, Lorina naturally had wide questioning eyes that looked for possible inventions at every glance. Her features weren't sharp but soft, and that's what made her pretty. Though, all the beauty inside was covered by ink splatters from leaky pens, grease from help for inventions, and dust for standing still when she'd go off to her world of thoughts. In Lorina's mind, she didn't think that beauty mattered in science so she never wore makeup (or could even afford it) and kept her hair down. Even though she worked so much, Lorina was nicely groomed and washed sometimes before, or long after she helped with the scientists.
Personality: Lorina was a shy, kind, quiet, obedient type of girl. But that was just first impression. When you really got to know her she was a wild, friendly girl, who didn't follow many orders. She is a girl who would turn her head from an order and walk away. Lorina hated being bossed around, only adults could do that, and those were only adults whom she respected. Not drunks who party out every night and then can't remember what happened the day before. District 3 rarely had those people, so it was a safe place for her, or so she thought. Besides the Hunger Games, Lorina was pretty safe in her life. Her grades above average, as most kids in Three, and her fighting skills toned from hunting. Even she was smart enough to realize that fighting wasn't the answer, and that's why she had always disliked the Hunger Games that most people were so fond of. Sometimes she would think, now there will be less mouths to feed, other times she would skip school, stay home and scream in her pillow. But school was almost everything to her. Grades meant jobs and jobs meant money. Money also meant a real home. Not some blocks of wood stacked together and a roof to live under. Not that place where she lived alone, and made a habit to take care of herself, by herself. Seeing the Capitol with their fancy appearances and rich food with luxury houses, made her mad. But being mad didn't help anything, nor did it make those people go away, but she has encased that anger for nine years. She could handle a few more.
History: Lorina was raised to take care of herself for five years until her family never came back to the house. She has not heard any rumors of electrical fires killing anybody, or an invention gone wild at the time. Nothing helped her with the years of solving the mystery of her lost parents or in her struggle with survival. It took her three years to realize that they had abandoned her for many reasons: no money to help, punished for stealing, making something so spectacular and died by the malfunctions, or of course, murder. Lorina then, had no choice but to believe her conclusions and kept moving on. A few years after that she had turned more talkative and more noticed her, some people asked for her help. Over all those conversations that Lorina somewhat hated, nobody comforted her in her struggle. She had rarely made any friends, and she has kept herself alive from getting payed to help out with chores and inventions. Helping out was hard work but school was even harder. Paying for school took up a lot of money but she had to keep going for a better future. Her motto was: 'Forget the past and live on for the future, no matter what cost.'
RP sample: Lorina walked into her home from a long day at work. She didn't know that getting one piece of metal could take hours of waiting and running across Three. She wiped her hands on her ratty cargo pants and unlaced her boots. Lorina frowned when she saw a red, raw spot just above her ankle. Being poor, she couldn't afford much and paying for school was already a struggle, so she had to shrug it off, thinking that it'll go away soon. The tired girl crashed on the mattress of her former parents' bed and laid her head on the pillow. She mentally checked off everything in her head. School? Check. Eat? Check. Work? Check. Pay? Lorina frowned. Her payment for running all the way across the District and back only got her ten coins, which only got her so much food. Hunger gripped her stomach when she thought of food, but she automatically regretted thinking of food. Her pay would only give her food for two days, and she couldn't go and hunt, not yet at least. Lorina shook her head and repeated her motto, then she jumped off the bed and ran out the door.
