The Oasis ((Start Here)) Empty
PostSubject: The Oasis ((Start Here))   The Oasis ((Start Here)) I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 04, 2011 2:25 pm

Everyone must post here before we begin. This is where all the tributes get dropped off in very beginning. The cornucopia will be here and you can rp your character showing up, grabbing weapons, food and running or staying. I assume the powerful career people will duke it out here for a while until a group takes the Oasis and only form of water that is visible.

Once you've posted once here, your allowed to go to any of the other threads, wherever your staying.

What will happen, is these threads will last a while. For every two days here, it will be one day in the games. At the day of a (game) day, I will post and say DAY TWO in big letters. This will happen in all four of the threads.

You have one (game) day to post in this thread. Or 48 hours. Starting from midnight (central time) till midnight in two days. If you do not in that time, your character will automatically die and everyone below you will move up a slot.

RULES:

- If you do not post for four of our days or 2 game days, your character will automatically die.
- If your really busy, the posts don't have to be long. Essays are not required with every post, they just have to be 150 words or more.
- So that there is no confusion, groups will post in their own color.
- YOUR CHARACTER ISN'T GOD, OR INVINCIBLE! If your in a well matched fight and you get away alive, your going to get injured. And you can't kill the animals super easily, they're tough too.

So, in this thread, when you first post, it will just be normal, or grey. However, once everyone has started posting and they start to group, just make sure the color isn't taken and say somethign like this:
The Careers now must post in BLUE

Code:
Code:
[color=blue]words here[/color]

Roselyn is my character and I will have her post first. She will give an overview of the whole arena (the lake and dunes and all.) The only thing she won't go over is the underground tunnels. In 1 (games day) I will have her post there and she (and Vader, her alliance person) will be the first ones to discover it. So, I'm sorry ya'll but for the first night you will have to sleep outside in the cold.
Once Roselyn has posted, you can all reply.

Weapons in the cornucopia:
- knifes (20)
- spears (10)
- sets of darts (10)
- swords (5)
- bows with two sets of arrows (3)
- Axes (2)

The knifes are scattered around the cornucopia as well as the spears. The bows are in a triangle on different sides of the cornucopia (touching it). And the swords are inside.

Water sources you can find in this area:
- The Oasis (obviously)
- Water in food packs
- Cactus (VERY SCARCE)

The packs are all over. They are scattered everywhere around the cornucopia.

Animals in this area:
- You find a few large ants
- poisonous and non-poisonous snakes.
- Scorpions
- jack rabbits
- lizards
- owls
- vultures
- bobcats
- gila monsters
- kangaroo rats
- tarantulas
(a few more which you don't really need to worry about)

Food sources:
- All the animals are edible
- There are yellow and orange fruits near the water.
- There are red and green ones as well (which are poisonous)
- Assortment of foods in the bags found in the cornucopia
- ::JACKPOT:: if you make peace with the ants, and find their food and water source, you can live a really long time hiding in the underground tunnels.

Everything else found in the cornucopia:
- Lots of food
- Iodine/water purifiers
- Blankets (you'll need them in the terrifying temperatures at night
- tents
- flint
- lighters and matches (very few)
- sunglasses

The Oasis will look somewhat like this:
The Oasis ((Start Here)) Wadi-in-desert-1
SURROUNDED BY ROCK.

::NOTE:: There are barely any trees in this arena.

I will unlock this post right before Roselyn posts.
Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Ok ya'll, when you die. Please make sure to post whether or not to delete that user. If you want to make a second character out out that account, please say so. If your don't, I will delete that user.
kthanksbye.

PostSubject: Re: The Oasis ((Start Here))   The Oasis ((Start Here)) I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 05, 2011 12:03 am

Roselyn sucked in a deep breath in anticipation for what was right in front of her. She stood in a dark tube, which was supposedly taking her up to the arena. She had just been dressed in a comfortable lightweight shirt, a thin sweatshirt, lightweight leather boots, and tight, thin, convertible/waterproof pants. Every limb in her body was shaking in fear, but she kept trying to counter it with deep breaths. Everything is going to be ok she thought over and over again. However, she knew quite well that it wouldn't be. She set a goal in her head. Survive these first couple minutes. She didn't want to think about getting past even the first day just yet, it would distract her.

Someone spoke giving rules before finally saying, "...and now, let the 15th Hunger Games begin!" A huge uncomfortable flurry went up Roselyn's body just as light infiltrated her tube. She rose until she was standing on a platform that was level with he ground. The first thing that she noticed was the impossible heat and blinding sun. The sun was so bright it took her a second before she could see anything at all. In this time that her eyes were adjusting, she figured the temperature was around 100 degrees and uncomfortably dry. Once she could finally see enough to gather her bearings, she stumbled onto hot sand and looked around at the other tributes. Some of them were still hiding from the sun behind their arms. Some were squinting or even closing their eyes while running towards something golden; the cornucopia! It was sitting atop an island in the middle of a mossy stretch of water, which the tributes were surrounding. Even though she felt that her eyes were melting, Roselyn knew she had to move, now! Roselyn looked around and realized the group of tributes were stuck in a large mass of rock. It went on but started curving in. Roselyn couldn't see a dead-end but she assumed that it would and she didn't want to take any chances. Bags, blankets, and weapons were only 30 feet from her. She grabbed two bags, a knife, and a small vile of iodine before running to a spot on the rock face that had a lot of handholds. She stuffed the knife and iodine into one of the packs and slung it over her shoulder quickly. She began her assent without hesitation and finally glanced around feeling the safety of height. Now everyone was up and running. At the sound of a cannon, Roselyn started and nearly lost her grip on the wall. She was only about 10 feet off the ground, but the thought of falling slightly scared her. She looked down and saw a bloodied boy. She had seen him before, his name was Rex. She felt sad for him, but kept pressing on. She had made eye contact with a girl who was shoving her way towards a shiny bow and her desperate attempt to reach the top grew even higher.

Looking beside her, she saw that four other tributes were climbing as well and they were surely some on the other side of the canyon. One had a jump-start on her, another had started after her, but was gaining, and another was climbing the wall at about the same pace as her. In her desperate attempt to reach the top, she started gaining on the person ahead of her. She was breathing heavily from the process and received a quizzical look that spoke why are wasting all your energy right now? Roselyn shot her a glance back, she recognized this girl as well, her name was Vader. It was a hard name to forget. Roselyn knew that she was supposed to be killing instead of helping, but she couldn’t help herself. “There is a girl underneath us with a bow. We only have about 20 feet left, we’re over halfway done!” The girl wasn’t particularly close, so she had to shout it. She assumed the other two climbers would have heard as well. She watched one pull themselves up onto the higher ground and take off running. Roselyn chanced a look down and saw that there was a struggle between two people for the bow. She heard another shot and searched the grounds until she found Ovid. He was from her district and seeing him dead saddened her greatly. She heaved herself onto a ledge just as she noticed two other bows. They were more hidden, but would be found soon. She climbed quickly for the next few feet until she pulled herself up onto the higher ground as well. The other person was already sprinting out of sight. She heard the whistle of an arrow just as she saw another person finishing the assent.

Getting over the burn in her arms, Roselyn looked around and let her face fall at what she saw – bare desert. There were dunes all around. She spotted a few cacti here and there. She saw people on the other side of the wall reaching the top and taking off running. There was nothing really on that side of the arena either, just sand. She saw something large and black however. She thought it looked like a large …dead ant. But she waved it off assuming the heat had already gotten to her.

She began running through the sand and frowned noticing that it slowed her. She felt the heat more than ever and sweat covered her body. She was losing water quickly and she knew she had to find somewhere to stop and check her bags. One of them was fairly heavy so she knew there had to be water in it, which was uplifting …no matter how small in amount. She ran for what seemed to be much too long before climbing a steep dune. At the top of it, she hopped over the side and slid down the scorching sand. The heat went through her light clothes easily. Towards the bottom, there was a pocket of shade with an overhanging ledge. She quickly moved to it and sat under the shade. She knew that she should run more and distance herself from the Careers as much as possible, but she was too exhausted. She looked through her packs and took out her iodine and knife. In the first and lighter bag, she found a light piece of canvas that would keep her body heat in at night. Underneath it, she found 5 darts wound up together with some rough thread. Roselyn wasn't a bad thrower and of the 5 darts, they were all very sharp. Three of them were normal sized with small tips, but two were very large and if thrown right, the tip would sink in very deep causing fatal wounds. Roselyn also saw that if she put poison or venom on these darts, she could easily kill people without being forced to see the blood. However, the only thing she was worried about was killing a snake or poisonous ...something to get to some venom. In the second, she found a full canteen of water. Next to it was a wrapped up piece of bread. She figured that the cloth is was wrapped in would be good to wet and put on her head later. She found a side pocket and pulled out a pair of sunglasses. "Why didn't I open this earlier?" She mused. Roselyn put on the sunglasses and allowed herself a small bit of water before she just sat and rested her muscles.

((Ok, now anyone can reply!!! You have 48 hours!))

The Oasis ((Start Here)) Empty

Nothing prepared Vader for the nervousness that she felt now. Her heart pounded, pumping blood through her veins. She was more aware of her near unavoidable death then anything else. Her small hands shook as she brushed her short red hair out of her face. Oh my God. I’m going to die soon. She thought as the tube sealed and she could feel the rattle of the mechanism as it took her up to the arena and to her death. Breathing wasn’t easy, but somehow Vader was able to force herself to take in air by taking short gasps. She wasn’t out of breath, but it felt like she’d run several miles. Her legs felt like jelly, she hadn’t trained for this, why her? Couldn’t she have died any other way?

The tube slid open to reveal a bright light that must have come from the sun. In the brief moment before The Hunger Games started, Vader noticed the heat coming up out of the ground, causing mirages in the air. “And now, let the 15th Hunger Games begin!" Said the excited voice of the announcer. Vader took off running as fast as she could towards the water up ahead. The she slid painfully on the rocks and sand by the cornucopia. Her hand was scrapped, but at the moment Vader chose to ignore it, she’d rather die later of an infected wound then now by someone’s weapon. She stood up, disoriented and lunged towards a large pack, her muscles screaming as she hit the ground, hard. Her fingers closed around the black fabric tightly. Vader gave a shout of anger as she felt the pack slipping from her grip. She flipped over to see who was trying to take it from her, but was blinded by the sun. Vader kicked out blindly and wrenched the pack from the person’s grip. She stumbled for a moment before regaining her balance and swinging the back onto both shoulders. Vader spotted shinny in the ground and bent to pick it up while still moving. Miraculously, her little maneuver worked and she was able to stand and sprint away without much trouble. Vader launched herself up the rock wall that surrounded the oasis. She found crevices for her feel and hands quickly, this rock was full of them, and she was able to climb quickly. Vader glanced down to see the girl from Nine close behind her. The girl was huffing and puffing, Vader assumed it was from the heat, but she couldn't help but send a quizzical look her way. “There is a girl underneath us with a bow. We only have about 20 feet left, we’re over halfway done!” The girl said, Vader now remembered her name was Roslyn, however she didn't say anything, she was too busy climbing. A cannon sounded, and then another; two of the twenty-four were dead already.

Vader ran without hesitation to the huge dunes of sand that covered nearly all of the visible arena; they would provide cover from other tributes for a little while if they were still fighting at the cornucopia. She was currently on top of one of the dunes, so she tried to slide down the side, but she lost her footing and ended up tumbling down the side of the dune. She landed with a small thud between two dunes. There was sand in her face and mouth and her lungs burned. Vader lay there gasping for breath; she’d knocked the wind out of herself with that fall. As soon as she regained some of her breath, Vader sat up and dug through her pack. There was a canteen, a little food, a pair of sunglasses (which Vader put on immediately), and a small canvas tent. She allowed herself a small smile, she had some really good stuff in her pack, she thought, as she repacked it. Vader stood and began to walk, holding her knife just in case anything happened.

The tribute from District Three wasn’t paying attention to where she was walking. The only thing running through her mind was the words ‘keep moving, don’t stop,’ which ran through her head repetitively, as if on an infinite loop. Vader scanned the area around her; all she saw was sand and more sand. She couldn’t even see the rock where all the tributes had started out at, or the cornucopia, but she figured that not being able to see those to places was probably a good thing. It came as a complete surprise to Vader when she stepped on something relatively soft. A faint hiss was heard as she looked down the see a large snake under her boot. Startled, Vader let loose a loud piercing scream, which she was sure could be hear for miles around.

Marcus wasn't scared so much as determined as he rose inside that dark tube. He'd watched the games before, and he figured himself to a have a little bit of an upperhand on the other lower districts. He, had technically been training. Though, he hard physical labor and messaging errands had kept him fit, he wasn't stupid. Marcus figured he'd probably die. but he'd die later than the others, and that's what counted. He knew going in hewasn't completely alone either. He had the other tribute from his district, Anya. He had barely known her before the reaping, but now they were aout to fight together for their lives. He could only hope that he could trust the young girl.

Marcus's head flew up when he heard that damn voice. His tube began to open as he heard the fated words, “And now, let the 15th Hunger Games begin!" Marcus began running as all get out, hoping that he was running at least in the direction of the cornacopia. His eyes adjusted farely well, and he could see the arena. It was blasted hot, and what looked like a desert. He'd never seen anything like it before. There were no trees. NO TREES? Marcus shook his head and kept running. He managed to get to the oasis farely quick, since he was dressed in a light clothing.

First things first, he grabbed a bow. But before he could turn around to pick up a pack, someone latched themselves onto it. Someone who wasn't Anya. So Marcus wrenched it out of the other boy's grip and gave him a fair kick to the stomach, where he went down. He grabbed the blanket and began to stuff items in it. He really didn't see what he was grabbing at the moment, but he did shove some kids around as he was getting his supplies.

Narrowly missing a flying spear, Marcus decided it was time to leave this place. He ran behind the cornacopia, and began his descent up a steep hill, taking large strides. He was a tall man, he could do it. The sun was already beginning to burn him, he could feel it while he got scraped by a cactus. He needed to find Anya before someone killed her. His only hope was that her small stature enabled her some nimbleness.

After getting a good ways, Marcus sat on a large rock, and took out the pack. Inside he got a fair amount of food, a bottle of water....and and a lighter! Marcus had scored a lighter and matches! He commended himself, because with those, survival would be much better. He looked around the landscape and no one seemed to be near him. Yet, anya hadn't arrived. Thier team of two needed to get together soon if they were going to survive at all. Shaking his head, he restuffed the pack, and unfolded the blanket. He stufed some iodine in it, more food, and a knife. "Good thing, I'm a horrible shot with a bow. Maybe Anya is better. I should've paid more attention during training

Wow was the only thought going through Sasha's head as he paced back and forth waiting for his stylist to tell him it was time. Oh, this was such a nerve-wracking experience. There was a lot to worry about. What if he died in the arena above him? Evan would be left tp fend for himself with their dad. Sasha kind of doubted Evan would last long in the Hunger Games, which was where their dad would want him to go as soon as the next Gaes came around.. Sasha knew his dad well, and it was obvious that their dad hated Evan with a passion. Getting rid of him would be beyond easy for his dad. Sasha tried to turn his thoughts back to the Games. If he didn't concentrate, he would die almost immediately. The Careers were quite vicious, he knew. If he had tried, he would've had an easy pass into their group. He had the right district on his sides. For some reason, though, he had turned the invitation down. He had found other allies: the boy from District 3 and the girl from 12. He felt way more confident with them at this side than with the Careers at his. The Careers were as likely to stab you in the back as help you, even if you were part of their team. Sasha mulled over how his decision to not join the probably strongest group would affect him in terms of sponsorship. Hopefully, all the potential sponsors would just look past that blaringly obvious fact.

His stylist nudged him, jarring him out of his thoughts, and said, with warmth and pity in his voice,"It's time, Sasha. Good luck to you. I hope to see you on the victory tours." Sasha grinned and joked,"Is it because you get to come on them with me?" The stylist, whose name was Antonio, laughed and replied,"Perhaps." Sasha took one last good look at his stylist. He generally liked this guy, even though he was all dyed and surgically changed. His hair and lips were blue, and his face was a shade of green, like he was sick or something. His lips were puffy, like they had been enlarged. Still, his stylist was pretty cool. He had done really well on all of Sasha's outfits. The tailored suit that shined, like a diamond would, had been perfect on the night of the interview. The whole crowd had been wowed. Sasha's tone turned serious as he said to Antonio,"Thanks, man. Thanks a lot." With one last grin at the stylist, Sasha stepped on the metal plate that would take him either to certain death or glorious victory. He was hoping for the latter, to be honest. Who would actually want to die in these Games? It would be a horrible way to die. There were a billion ways to be tortured in the arena. The Gamemakers might have something up their sleeves, or their could be some sadistic other tributes in the arena.

Sasha's thoughts turned to the other tributes in the arena. The young boy from 11 probably wouldn't last too long. His age just was a complete disadvantage. He would be an easy target for anyone. The guys from 2 and 5 looked the oldest, probably being around 18. The person who probably scared Sasha the most was Faeryn. They had met before the Games, unfortunately. She hadn't been one of the nicest people he had ever met. She was part of Career team, and he wondered if she'd be gunning for him, since he was from her district and not on her team. Then again, if she did, a bunch of people back home might not like her as much if she tried to kill him from the start. Sasha's thoughts drifted to the arena. What had they thought up this time? An ocean? A desert? A forest? it could be anything, really. the Gamemakers could be quite sadistic in how they operated. Sasha gulped as the plate grinded to a stop. His eyes flew over the arena he would be fighting in. It was so obviously some sort of desert. Great, he had picked this year to volunteer when it was probably the hardest ever. Just great. He heaved a sigh, just as the the announcer's voice rang out,"Let the 15th Hunger Games begin!" Sasha was off, running towards the Concucopia as fast as he possibly could. He needed to get armed and ready before the others could. He reached it quickly, and he pondered for a split second over what to get.

He grabbed a backpack to stuff his supplies in and grabbed the first two food bags and iodine bottle he could get. A small tent, which would be great for the nights, came into view and went into his bag, along with a bottle of water. Now there was only one thing left that he needed: a weapon. He scanned the ground and saw just what he needed: a sword. He lifted it up and took a quick practice swing. Good. It weighed well in his hand. Finally, he was ready to leave. He glanced around and saw that others were almost ready to attack. He started running when he stumbled over something: a body. She recognized the boy- it was a guy he had met back in training. Sasha had tried to recruit him, but Ovid had declined. That's where that had gotten him- dead. The boy had been killed probably by some type of weapon, which meant that the other tributes were already armed and attacking. It was time to get out of here before they decided to start attcking him. He decided to head towards the bare desert. He would loop through there, find a place to shelter, and go find his teammates in the morning. He would have to watch the sky tonight to see if Elodie and Demettrii had lived through the day. If he went back now, the Careers were bound to have already taken over and killed the laggers. He would just have to pray that his allies had survived.

Sasha kept his eyes peeled, but all this walking was dehydrating his body quickly. That, coupled with the extreme heat in the air, would kill him soon if he didn't take a break. He sat down on the only thing that could serve as a chair, and that was a lousy rock. He sat down and looked through his supplies. He had gotten really lucky with the sword. There probably weren't too many of them in the arena. If there were, the game would probably be over way too quickly for the audience. Sasha looked around and saw that no one was nearby. That was good, for the most part. If his teammates had been here, he would've felt a lot better. Sasha a small sip of water and stood. He peeled his eyes, and his determination was rewarded. There was a cluster of rocks in the distance that would shieled him from all sides if he put one more rock on the other side. Sasha reached the cluster and set himself to moving another rock. After a while of struggle, he succeeded. He had a place for the night. He wouldn't be cold because he had his tent. Sasha smiled; this was going a lot better than he had planned. He hadn't died in the beginning, and he was good in the way of supplies. He could win this thing.

The Oasis ((Start Here)) Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Oasis ((Start Here))   The Oasis ((Start Here)) I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 05, 2011 10:18 am

Drew was still standing on her platform. It didn't occur to her that the bong had wrung. She quickly got off her platform, to find herself already bloody. Oh no! Has someone shot me? I didn't feel anything. She looked around, to find that the reason of her bloodyness was because she tripped, and scraped herself. Well then, I can already tell that I'm not ready for this.

Drew sprinted to the cornucopia to find that the only things left to her appeal was a bow with two quivers, and a pack. She didn't care to look what was in the pack at the moment, she just needed to get out of there.

Drew ran over to the big pool of water and saw some fruits by it. She didn't care much about the colours, she just needed more food. She picked about eleven of each colour. Each of them were about the size of a mango.

She was off. She started looking around the rocks. She saw on that she could hide behind if she wanted to. It sorta served as a cave.

'BOOM!' The sound of a cannon scared Drew so bad. She nearly screamed, but she realised that that wouldn't really be 'in her favor.'

She set her stuff on the cave floor. No one would really be able to find her, unless of course, that person was as small as her. Only one person came to mind that was smaller than her, and he was Donta, from her district, so Drew felt safe in the cave.

Drew went through her fruits. She figured that some of them were poisonous, so she tried to figure out which ones.

The yellow and orange ones looked the most trusting to eat, so Drew put the green and red ones in the corner of her cave. Maybe someone would come into her cave while she was gone and eat the fruits.

Drew was partially right. About a half-an-hour had passed, and a ginormous ant came into the cave, and grabbed a green fruit. It took one bite, and fell to the ground, dead. Drew was glad she threw the green ones out, but she still wasn't sure about the red ones. She sure wasn't going to take her chances.

Drew was still trying to figure out the red fruits, so she grabbed one of each colour fruit. She tore off a piece of skin from a green one, red one, orange one, and a yellow one. The yellow and orange ones were clear inside, and they were juicy. The green and the red ones had purple dots inside of them, and they were somewhat dehidrated.

Drew was glad she checked, because obviously the red and green ones were poisonous, and the yellow and orange ones weren't. Drew took a bite of the yellow one that she used to peel off a tiny bit of the skin. It was very sweet, but in a good way. For the first time since the reaping, Drew actually truthfully thought that she might be able to win.

((Drew, your kind of playing God. There is no way that she could have picked 44 fruits without getting injured. Plus, there was no way that she could have escaped to the cave without getting noticed. And who said there was a cave?

It's a good post, but for future reference, please be a little more careful on that sort of thing. Now, she's probably trapped with Careers circling the cave. Even if they can't fit in, they know you can't last in there forever. Also, where's your alliance? How are you going to make it if you can't get out?

Fruits aren't the easiest thing to determine whether or not they're poisonous...... just food for thought. You can edit it if you like, just try to stay away from that sort of predicament.))

((Yeah . . . about that. I meant to write like . . . 11 fruits in total, but it cam out as me having 44 fruits. And it wasn't ever a cave, it was just a rock on top of a rock that served as a cave, but you had to go through a hole, I mean to say that you had to be that small to find it. Sorry. Elodie sits in the room where she felt like she was held captive before the games. She told her stylist to stay behind even though it might be against the rule. People from the capital came to help Elodie but they found her ready and eating and drinking water. They wanted to talk but she kept quite; she didn't want them to get into her head. They gave Elodie some space as they waited for the word that all tributes were to go out. Elodie sat there watching the capital people pace around. She wasn't nervous or scared; she was held at peace with her mind and body. She didn't care what the arena would look like but the more cover the better. Elodie thought about her allies, Sasha and Demetrii. Would they make it through the first day? She was almost positive they would but she couldn't help wondering. The capital people looked at Elodie and nodded; "Time to go!" They said in such a squeaky voice.

Elodie got up and went to her plate but was stopped by one of the capital people; "Be safe out there kill many people." It was a boy around 25years old. Elodie turned and stepped on her plate. It started to move up with a creaking sound and then it squealed to a stop. She still couldn't see the arena; it stopped in the wrong place. Elodie sat down and waited for about 2 minutes for it to start again by that time she was starting to tense up. She got back up and as she stood for a little while she calmed down. The sunlight poured in and it was blinding for a few minutes but her eyes got used to it in no time. It was a desert no trees, a few shrubs, and a lot of sand. She waited in a running position for the call to go. Then a booming voice pours over the clearing; "...and now, let the 15th Hunger Games begin!"

Elodie races off her plate as soon as the words were let out. She was swift on her feet and able to keep footing on the sandy ground. On the way to the cornucopia she picked up a pack and a small tent. Once at the cornucopia she picked up a sword, a knife and a bow with 2 sets of arrows. She put the sword in her belt, the knife in a pack, the bow and arrows on her back with her pack and tent, and took off in the direction she thought Sasha went. Elodie wouldn't be found dead today. She looked at tracks and slowed down a little. It wouldn't be good if she was caught but she kept her senses sharp. She sat down in a cluster of shrubs and opened her pack. She found a pack of beef strips, a pack of dried fruit, a water bottle full of water, a bottle of Iodine, a blanket, and a pair of sunglasses.

Elodie decided that her tent could fit into the pack and after moving things around and refolding the blanket she could place the tent in perfectly. Her knife was in a outside pocket of the pack and she took some string that was loose from the inside of the pack and tied the knife there. She figured it would be best if she would get going and try to find Sasha before dark. Elodie got up and started to walk following the tracks in the sand. She sees a jack rabbit run by and smiles. If there is one jack rabbit there is more.

Elodie looks on to the horizon but sees the sun going to about 2pm. She still wasn't thirsty but she wasn't sweating that much either. Her mind was racing but she picked up her pace again. The canons started going off but she lost count. Elodie hoped that Demetrii wasn't one of them; she knew Sasha wasn't. She saw some rocks and the tracks led up to there. She followed them and saw Sasha.

The nervousness coursing through Misael’s body was ridiculous, like he had no words to describe the feeling. His stylist had asked him how he felt before he had gone into the tube, and Misael couldn’t even say that he was nervous because that wasn’t enough. The stupid stylist only commented that she was glad to have dressed him in colors that accentuated the green color of his face, which for Misael was not normal. He was not some pretty toy of the Capitol to get all crazy with the way he looked. His dad had warned him that he might like the Capitol once he got there, but that wasn’t the half of it. This whole situation was ridiculous, but there was nothing Misael could about it. He was the male tribute from his District, and it was a good thing to. He was probably the only guy in the entire district that had a chance of winning against the Careers. His father was a Peacekeeper, so Misa knew how to use his fair share of weapons. He hoped to get his hands on a bow and a sword from the Cornucopia. With those, he could hold his own.

The platform began to rise and he heard a voice cry, “...and now, let the 15th Hunger Games begin!” Misael looked out at the landscape before him. He was in a desert, which was going to be tough, but that was a problem for another time. Right now, he needed to get some supplies from the Cornucopia. If he was lucky, he might even get some good stuff. Taking off at a sprint, he dashed for the first couple of things in his sight. One was a pack; he had no idea what was in it. Then, he grabbed a blanket and a canteen, complete with iodine to purify the water. Things were looking up for Misael Campos. He might even survive the opening without a scratch.

Spotting the bows, he dashed to grab one. When he got there, someone had already grabbed the best bow with the best arrows. Cursing, Misael latched onto the bow, trying hard to pry it from the other guy’s grasp. He recognized the guy from training and television. Marcus from District 6 supposedly wasn’t very good with a bow. However, he was good with his fists and legs as he landed a blow to Misael’s gut which flattened him on the floor. Misael didn’t even think about getting up to retaliate; instead, he rolled away from his position, got on his feet, and ran as far away from Marcus as he could. Close range with a bow was a lot easier than long range. As he ran, Misael grabbed a long blade knife, almost a miniature short sword. This would come in handy.

Spears were flying overhead as he ran through the supplies of the Corucopia. He couldn’t spot anything more that would help him, but he really needed another weapon and maybe some food. From the looks of it, most if not all of the food packs were already snagged, as were most of the good weapons. He would have to go inside the metal cone to find whatever he needed. This was a gamble that could cost him his life, but he really didn’t have any other option. Racing inside the cone, he stumble over the piles of nonsensical nonsense that the Gamemakers had piled in there. He wondered if there was even wood to use to start a fire and to use the flint and steel. He hadn’t really even seen wood around the oasis, and the rest of the arena looked like a desert. Of course, that meant nothing, so he grabbed some flint and steel, he put into his pack along with a pair of sunglasses.

Focusing on a weapon, Misael spotted a sword at the very end of the cornucopia just as the first cannon sound went off. Someone was dead already, which meant he was one step closer to winning. Stay competitive, his father’s voice said in his head. Look at it like the game it is, a competition, and you’ll survive. Misael nodded to himself and ran to pick up the sword. It was a good blade, not too long, and evenly balanced. What he would have done for a bow, but he hadn’t thought it would be a good idea to risk getting one. Wrapping the scabbard around his waist, Misael ran for the exit of the Cornucopia, hoping that no one was there waiting to kill him.

Barreling out of the Cornucopia, Misael made his way for the rocks, which he would have to climb to get out of the Oasis. He looked around but didn’t see anyone really. In fact, he thought that a lot of the tributes must have taken what they could and bolted. He didn’t even see any of the Careers. Could they not have noticed his journey into the Cornucopia? Or were they waiting for him to make a big mistake? Or were they setting a trap? Paranoia threatened to overtake him, and he had to shake it out of his head. That was when he heard a noise off to his right. Immediately, the sword was out of it’s scabbard, and Misa struck a ready position. If only I could’ve had a battle axe… he thought to himself. Or one of those dang bows.

Michiah stood in the dark tube that would take her to her death. She paced the small tube silently, sweat appearing on his brow. She stopped when she felt herself rising and heard the horrid words she had been dreading this whole time. "Let the 15th Hunger Games begin!" The bright, blinding light got to Michiah before the sound of the gong did. She took off running, hoping she was going in the right way. Her eyes quickly adjusted and she looked around. No trees? She wouldn't last too long. Michiah continued to run foward, pushing that behind herself. For now. The first thing she grabbed was a small pack and blanket, stuffing the blanket in her bag and slinging it over her shoulder. Michiah then looked for the bow and arrows. They were all gone. Cursing,Michiah grabbed 3 small blades instead, also shoving these in her bag. She saw a boy climb out of the Cornicopia, coming out with a sword. Deciding this wasn't a bad idea, Michiah climbed in and rummaged around through the items. She stuffed some dry beef in his pack while looking around. She finally found a sword and ran out before another Tribute came. Michiah quickly jumped on the wall, clambering up it quickly." I'll meet up with the other Career's later," She whispered to herself, finally finding a small area behind two rocks which hid a cavern and climbed in. There, Michiah checked out the area for animals. None were there. "Perfect. Now, to survive." Michiah whispered, taking out her sword just in case.

((Just a couple things, Michiah... this is rather embarrassing, I apologize. the boy tribute of District 2 is Storm, the girl tribute is Michiah....

Also, the limit for swords have already been exceeded. There were only 2 swords all together, and now there are magically 4. I will allow one more, which the careers can have. NO ONE ELSE IS ALLOWED TO TAKE A SWORD. I apologize. I'll go edit the list now so that there are 5 swords. But if anyone else rp's taking a sword, they will have to edit it.))

Get to the Cornucopia. Get to the Cornucopia. Get to the freaking Cornucopia! Hazon chanted these words to himself over and over again to distract himself as the dark tube slowly crawled upwards towards his death. His death . . .

A distraction was definitely a welcome prospect in his mind, and for more than one reason. It wasn't just his own hopeless fate that troubled him constantly. It was also the fact that Charlie knew that his life was over. She knew she would never see him again and he knew he wouldn't see her . . . but he would try his damnedest to change that. He thought about his last few moments with Charlie, finally telling her how he felt. Telling her that he loved her. Promising to come back as soon as possible. And he would try like hell to keep that promise no matter how much of a lost cause he really knew it was. He thought about how Charlie would be watching the Games, probably at home with her family where she belonged. He thought about how she would see him fighting as hard as he possibly could for her. This thought encouraged Hazon a little and he got back to focusing on what was to come.

Get to the Cornucopia! Get to the Cornucopia! He continued the chanting more fiercely in his head as the large tube finally came to a stop and opened up to a blindingly bright setting. He heard some enthusiastic character squeal something about the Games starting and then he was off, bolting for the shiny golden mass on a rocky island ahead of him. Hazon could never remember running this fast in his life. He scrambled through the murky water, elbowing and punching several kids along the way, until he got to a pack that he quickly snatched up. He grabbed a knife off the ground and hurried away from ensuing chaos surrounding the Cornucopia. As he ran for the rocky wall that was the only thing separating him from escape, he felt a violent tug at his pack and quickly whipped around to see a kid frantically pulling at Hazon's pack. Hazon's strong grip didn't give way though, and he swung his free arm across his body to give this child one of the nastiest right hooks he had ever delivered. The kid staggered back and fell to the ground, relinquishing the pack.

Hazon sprinted to the craggy wall face and nearly ran straight into it with full force. He slung the pack over his shoulder to free his hand and jumped up to begin his ascent. He had never done much climbing, but his upper body strength was enough to get him through and reach the top. But as soon as he was up, he almost wished he could go right back down again because all he saw for miles was sand dunes, cacti, and rocks. He groaned and ran towards what ever awaited him out in the seemingly endless desert.

You are not going to cry. You are not going to cry. Donta repeated this mantra to himself over and over as he stood, trembling, on the plate that would take him to the arena. Which would most likely be the last thing he would ever see. He thought of his family, of his friends, and finally of his home, before his happy memories became flooded with images of past hunger games and the tributes he would now have to face in the arena. Long before the twelve year old felt mentally prepared, he felt the plate move beneath him and send him flying upwards. The Games had begun.

The first thing that struck Donta as he was lifted into the arena was heat, closely followed by the blinding sunlight, and finally by a feeling of panic. Because even from his first glance at the arena, Donta could tell that he definitely wasn’t equipped to handle whatever this arena threw at him; he didn’t see a tree for miles, and he doubted any of the edible plants he recognized from District 11 could be found here. Right now, the only thing he could really count on having in the arena was Sadie, who had unexplainably allied with him. Donta was shocked, but mostly grateful, that anyone would ever want him as a partner in the arena. Sadie reminded him of his five older sisters, who had done everything they could to keep him from the reaping, and would now have to watch him di-no. Donta wasn’t going to think like that. He would go down fighting-well, not literally fighting because half of the other kids looked like adults to the small boy, but he would do his best to escape the others.

He squinted into the harsh light and held a hand over his eyes while taking deep breaths. He had to stay calm. If he freaked out now, he would surely die in the bloodbath....as opposed to dying in a few hours. But that wasn’t the point right now. The point was to get away from the Cornucopia as quickly as possible. Sadie had told him she would grab some supplies and meet him somewhere, so he would stick to that plan. Donta did feel slightly guilty, though – what if something happened to Sadie in there? He decided to keep a close eye on her and stay as close as possible to the cornucopia, so if something happened he could…he could…do…something.

Well, hopefully it wouldn’t come to that.

At the sound of the announcer’s voice, Donta gave a small jump, then quickly turned and ran in the opposite direction of the Cornucopia towards…nothing. Noticing some rocks nearby, Donta turned toward them, hoping he might be able to climb one and wait for Sadie there, and that nobody would take notice of the puny twelve year old running away-surely the careers were occupied with bigger threats, right?

((Sorry this isn’t the greatest post…I’ve been SO busy!))

Storm felt an overload of emotions wrack his brain. Nervousness threatened to control him. Fear, pain, and anticipation were also right on the surface. But most of all, he felt sorrow. The events of the last day overfilled his brain. After Storm had left Willow, she snapped. The Capitol had killed her whole family but Luke. Now, they had even claimed him, her boyfriend. She rebeled against the peacekeepers and instead of being killed, she was prolonged to live in silence. She was sentanced to be an avox. He kept telling her that everything was going to be ok, but they both knew better. Even if he did win, his life would be over. He would have to move back to District 2 and live in a mansion there. Now, since she was an avox, he would never see her. However, he still promised to try his best. He loved her, and he would make it work. They could fake their deaths and run away... Storm unnecessarily closed his eyes in the dark tube. He wanted to sit there and cry. His whole family had been killed as well. He knew he couldn't survive the games, but still he forced himself to remain stoic. He had to be strong, for he and Willow.

A loud voice began to say the rules. Storm was now shaking. He wasn't ready for this. Finally, the announcer said his last words and Storm was blinded by bright, seraphic, white, sunlight. He ran forward only a few steps before his muscles stoped working. All he could do was stand there with his arm over his eyes, shielding them. Stay alive. A small voice spoke in the back of his mind. Stay alive! A louder voice said, more desparate then the first. STAY ALIVE! The voice said again, snapping him back into reality. [I]Stay alive for Willow[I], the voice said again, but he was already off. He blinked brightness out of his eyes. It was still hard to see but his sight was coming quickly.

His foot hit something and kicked it a few feet. He heard the sound of metal scraping rock and he saw that he had just kicked a knife. He scrambled to pick it up. Now his vision had completely returned and he stood shocked at the sight before him. He felt the heat, saw the rock, and the desert, but it was the water the scared him the most. He couldn't swim. The cornucopia sat atop an island in the middle of a body of water. He searched it frantically for a shallow spot. He needed a weapon better than a knife. He knew he had to do something. He saw a kid making his way towards the water and Storm instantly sprang to action. The guy was armed with a pack and a knife. He swung his blade at him and he used his knife to defend himself. Storm trained for a year wih the Careers and he was extremily good with various weapons. But he was out of practice. He kept the person at bay easily but he knew he would tire quickly. He glanced back at the cornucopia and spotted Hazon wading away from it. Storm realized with embarrasment that the water didn't even reach his neck. In his confusion, he got nicked in the leg. Someone had stabbed his calf and pants with a knife. He didn't have time to worry about the wound before he hopped in he warm water. It stung his wound but felt like a relief in the boiling sun. The mirky water lapped up to his chest and though he was slower in the water and foot of mud at the bottom, he made it to the cornucopia quickly. He scanned it for a sword and realized with shock that here was only one remaining. He saw a kid quickly moving through the water eyeing it greedily. Storm quickly scrambled onto the small island and snatched it before the other kid had a chance. He saw a few axes and a few huge jackpot packs. He knew that as part of being a Career, he had to protect it. One of the axes caught his eye in particular, but he didn't pick it up. It would just slow him down. He heard a few cannon shots here and there but never spent enough time to figure out who. He simply gave a silent nod for his or her family back home. He knew what it was like to lose a family member and he didn't want to have this many people have to go through it.

He hated being a part of the Careers and was in denial about it because he had spent years tryig to run away from his past only to own up to it now? However, he kept telling himself it was for Willow. All for Willow. He was a Career purely to stay alive. He saw two people almost upon the corucopia and he called out to the girl in his District. "Michiah!" He had talked to the girl from District one. She seemed very brutal. Storm assumed she wouldn't have a second thouht about killing someone. Maybe she could do the dirty work for him. "Faeryn ...Oi, you two get over here. We need to keep the weapons from them." He saw a kid trying to sneak around to get some weapons. Storm made a beeline for her and held her off wih his sword. He saw another coming for his axe. The one he mentally called ribs on and he backtracked to him and held him off instead. He noticed that most of the people were already climbing the rock wall that surrounded the whole water source and was slightly happy. They could run. Easy enough for him.

(( so we are allowed to post??))
Michiah looked out of her tiny cave at the sound of Storm's voice. Unsure to trust him, she slung her pack over her shoulder and strapped a blade to her leg, her sword in hand. She climbed out and down the wall quickly, her feet hitting the ground with a thud when she jumped down, looking around. "Anybody left?" She asked, walking toward them but stopping a few feet away. Michiah never wanted to be a Career. It was a family thing, something she had to do. "Any bows?" She added, looking around hopefully. Michiah walked a little closer and began looking around, throwing matches in her bag. She saw a kid scrambling up the wall and vanish. She sighed and held a tighter grip on her sword, looking up at Storm every once in a while.

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale…

Each breath that Anya took seemed to echo inside the small, black tube that would carry her to her death.

“The Fifteenth Annual Hunger Games are about to begin! Let’s see which two children will have the privilege of representing District 6 this year!”

Anya was young, but she wasn’t naïve. She knew very well that a thirteen year old was not likely to win; she knew a thirteen year old wasn’t likely to survive longer than the first few minutes of the games; still, she prayed that maybe, just maybe, she could survive.

“…and the male tribute is…… Marcus Aurelius!”

Despite herself, Anya managed a small smile. Before the reaping she hadn’t even known Marcus’s name. She rarely left her family’s home in the outskirts of District 6, and the last person she had spoken to, besides her family, was the local trader in the village. She sold vegetables and fruits from her plants in exchange for enough money to feed her family. Anya knew that the trader, John, was far too kind to her. He gave her enough money for the limp vegetables that she presented each week to keep her family fed without her having to sign up for tesserae; a system which had worked fine until the reaping, when her name was drawn.

But besides John and her parents, Anya really didn’t speak to anyone in District 6.

When she met Marucs, Anya tried to be cold and aloof. He was going to try to kill her. Why should she be nice?

Now though, Anya considered them friends, almost. She knew that she could count on an alliance in the arena, at least, and she knew that teaming up with an older, larger tribute like Marcus was her best chance of surviving.

“Anay Bray will be the female tribute this year! Anya? Can you come up please?”

And here she was; dressed in light clothes and sturdy boots, her skin and hair shining from her stylists’s attention, about to enter the Hunger Games.

“…And may the odds be ever in your favor!”

Yeah right.

“And now, let the 15th Hunger Games begin!”
Anya opened her eyes. She wasn’t in the tube anymore; she was in a huge open area. And it was hot! In the few seconds Anya spent looking around, she was vast amounts of sand, spreading in all directions. The cloudless sky was sharply blue, and huge rocky outcroppings spotted the edges.
And everywhere there were teenagers running. Then Anya heard the screaming.

Coming back to reality, Anya began to carry out the plan she had worked out the night before. She darted forwards and grabbed two small packs from the outskirts of the Cornucopia. Seeing that there was nobody close to her, Anya decided to risk jumping forwards and seizing to more items, a knife and a sand colored blanket. Before taking off, Anya reached for two fruits lying next to her. She had her hand on a round, orange one when an arrow zipped down and stuck in the ground next to her foot. Terrified, Anya abandoned the other fruit, a green one, and ran. As a smaller tribute, she didn’t stand a chance in close range combat. Her only hope was to run, darting dodging from side to side in order to make herself less of a target.

As Anya pounded across the desert towards the rocks, she felt sure that she would find Marcus there, Anya began to sweat. The new clothing that had felt so light earlier now felt heavy and hot. She wanted to abandon her outer layers, but she knew that any lost supplies could cost her later on. Even the boots were slowing her down. The sturdy soles were digging into the sand, but Anya didn’t want to imagine putting her bare feet onto the baking sand beneath her.

“I’m going to need water,” Anya whispered as she ran, “Preferably soon.”

Anya continued to run until she neared the rocks she had seen from the Cornucopia. Suddenly cautious, she crept around until she was standing behind one, with all the rest in front of her. She looked around, there was nobody anywhere near her to the back. Spotting a familiar looking figure on a rock some ways in front of her, Anya considered moving towards it, him?, in hopes that it was Marcus. If she called out, it would be like painting a target on her back. But if it wasn’t him and she walked right over…. Anya didn’t want to think about what might happen.

Finally, Anya realized that if she was going to make a move, she needed to hurry up and proceed; waiting would only put her in more danger. Wrapping herself and her supplies in the sand colored blanket in a weak attempt to disguise herself, Anya slunk to the ground before calling out: “Marcus?”

Al stepped into the tube. Fear almost consuming him. What if I die? What if I can't make it home to my family? Family... He remembered the day of the reaping. When they had called his name a girls shriek filled the air. When he located who it came from he was shocked to find that it was his sister, Naomi. Naomi was not a screamer. When he had his last conversation with her she had hugged him tight and made him promise he would win. Her last words to him were "When your in the arena, don't forget who you are or that your family loves you." Her last words fortified him.

The tube began to slide up. When it finally stopped, he looked around at the arena. It was a dry, hot place. Great, just what I need. The opposite to what I'm used to. he thought and quickly located the cornucopia.Let the fifteenth annual Hunger Games begin! and with that, he took off towards the cornucopia.

He looked around for a weapon he could use. No tridents but there were spears and knives. He grabbed two spears and two knives. He looked around and spotted Storm. Al sprinted towards him. Hey Storm! he said when he reached him and grinned What's cookin'? Well, besides us I mean. He lifted up one of his spears, quickly glancing around for any targets.

((Not a lot of muse. Sorry.))

Faeryn saw her designer give her an encouraging smile right before the tube that would take her to the arena closed. Marianna, her designer had been brilliant, and Faeryn couldn’t wait to see the kind of clothes that would be hers if she won the games. When. Faeryn reminded herself. When she won the games. A lovely and confident smile appeared on Faeryn’s face; she was completely prepared to prove herself in the arena and she had to show everyone that. Since she had been training for at least ten years, Faeryn wasn’t nervous at all. She knew it would be nearly impossible for her to die early in the games. If you die at all! She thought. The though of her dying didn’t scare her, Faeryn wasn’t afraid of death, and if she did die in the games she would make her death dramatic. She’d give the viewers something to remember her by, and would make sure that no one would ever forget her name.

The door slid open to reveal a bright white light and a dry heat that would surely kill of at least one person during the games. Faeryn squinted, but kept her smile plastered on her face. It took a moment for her to actually see anything, but. Adrenaline surged through her veins; this was the moment she’d been waiting for, ever since she’d been seven and started her training. It was her time to shine. “And now, let the Fifteenth annual Hunger Games begin!” Faeryn shot off towards the oasis where the cornucopia was. The oasis was about twenty-five to thirty feet from her plate and she cleared the distance in a matter of seconds. Faeryn dived into the blue-green water, heart pounding. The water was shallow, but it was faster to swim to the small island in the middle rather than wading to it. When she reached the island, Faeryn silently thanked Thrinnean for insisting that she knew how to swim well.

The blonde tribute looked around quickly and saw that other tributes were by the cornucopia, climbing up the rocks 9which seemed the only way to get out of the oasis), or in the water coming towards the island. She made the decision to let her fellow careers get supplies while she got weapons. Faeryn bent down to get a knife that stuck out of the sand, but she dropped it as soon as her fingers closed around the blade; the knife was hot. She pulled her jacket sleeve down top cover her hand and picked up the knife again. She spotted another knife and did the same thing. Now she had two knives, which was a good start. Seeing a tribute running towards her, Faeryn lunges forward, ready to attack. The poor guy was weaponless, but she took no mercy as she slashed at his chest and then plunged one of her knives into his heart. Fist blood. Faeryn thought as the cannon sounded a few moments later. Faeryn gave the boy she’d just killed a quick run over, to see if he had any supplies on him or anything, he didn’t. She thought he was the guy from District Nine, but she couldn’t be sure, not that it actually mattered anymore, he was dead.

Alex took a deep breath. He had practiced. The day he would go to the games. He knew everyone back at home would be watching cheering on for him, and his brother would be in his room, Alex had promised before he left, even if he died or not, his brother could have his room. Because Alex knew, he would die, a gruesome death maybe. He knew something would happen.

He had gone the past days shrugging the fact off that he would possibly die. He knew that he couldn't show his parents what a weakling he was. He would die a heroes death if he needed.

At the announce, Alex ran straight for the cornucopia, grabbing his bag and into the water he went, he could swim and hold his breath underwater for a long time. He tilted his head up, water going up his nose, he knew jumping into the water would be a bad move because wet clothe would get you bad. He saw a boy climbing a rock. The boy he had met durning training. Alex jumped out of water and looked at the boy, whiled holding a sword at the boys neck he said. "Don't move."
