| "Are you sure?" She asked, looking at his coins. Sienna shrugged. "Whatever. Let's go get some soup!" They walked down the block towards the soup shop. It was a small little building with a few windows. Dust gathered at the corners of the windows. The building itself was made of red-brown bricks and had a roof with black shingles. A small, worn out little sign hanging over the door read, "Sandra's Soup." There was but one table outside, but many more were placed inside the building. With a loud exhalation, she pushed the creaking double doors open.
A wave of heat hit her like a wall. Must be coming from the soup. she thought, watching thick liquid bubble over the rim of a pot. An old woman in a hair net spotted the bubbling soup and quickly turned the heat down a bit. There were several pots on the long stove, each holding a different type of soup. The restaurant was basically empty, given the exception of a young man sitting in the corner of the room in a booth, completely alone. His misty grey eyes stared out the window while he absentmindedly ran his forefinger around the perimeter of his bowl. He wore a raggedy old, forest green coat that was a size or two too small. His pants were worn out jeans with several holes in them. A beanie covered the wisps of white hair on top of his head. Something about the old man creeped her out. Must be a bum. she snarled to herself, turning away from his pitiful appearance.
The elderly cook looked up from the pot of soup she was tending to. Her dull green eyes were underlined with heavy bags. "Good afternoon." She said with a smile, revealing a mouth with several missing teeth. Sienna bit back a little gag in respect for the elderly. "Good afternoon to you." She replied. Her voice was dry, like the air outside. Sienna examined each pot. Hanging above them were little cards with the soup's name on each slip of paper. "Hmmm... I think the Potato Soup looks good right now." She said, droll pooling in her mouth. She gulped the spit back down as the cook ladled a handsome amount of soup into a cracked, ceramic bowl. Sienna fished the appropriate amount of coins out of her wallet and handed it to the cook. She then was handed her soup, which she took with a grateful nod. "You order now." She said, nudging Duncan a bit harder than intended with her elbow. She stood at his side, waiting for him to place his order before she sat down.

| Duncan walked towards her and looked at the cashier, taking a bowl and flipping them a coin. He sat down on a bench and leaned back, breathing the scent. "Not too much rich kid food out here." he laughed and took a bite. "This is what some of us eat on a daily basis, y'know." Duncan tilted his head to the side and looked at her. "Well, you can sit down." he gave her a warm smile and went back to eating. He didn't really know what to think. What to do. His day had been more interesting then it had usually been. His ukulele pressed against his back softly and didn't crush at the sensation. | |

| Smiling, Sienna carefully carried her piping hot bowl of soup and slid into place next to Duncan. The steam from her bowl of fresh Potato Soup billowed into her face. She grinned and swirled the faded silver spoon in her soup, then scooped a large spoonful of soup in it and gulped it down. Her throat took it in gratefully, and as it trickled down her throat she felt a surge of warmth and moisture. Longing for that sensation again, she began to shovel soup into her mouth, completely abandoning all etiquette. Though she knew she looked like a savage pig slopping the soup in her mouth, she didn't really care. That was the good thing about being the kind of person she was. If she appalled someone, she didn't mind. That was there problem, not hers. She could be whoever she wanted, whenever she wanted to, and she didn't fear being judged by others.
The spoon clanked against the bottom of the ceramic bowl faster than she had expected. Sienna scraped the remains of the soup from the bottom of the bowl, managing a meager last spoonful. Dropping the spoon into the bowl, she leaned back against the bench and patted her now-full stomach. A lazy, almost sleepy smile crept across her face. She always felt sleepy after she ate a big meal. "That was delicious." She murmured. The cook had directed her attention towards Sienna for a moment, so Sienna made sure to thank her with an over-exaggerated smile and a big thumbs up. Her gaze flickered over to Duncan, who seemed to be almost finished. Way to out-eat the guy! She laughed to herself. If Edward had been her, he would have given her a huge high-five.
While Duncan was finishing, Sienna allowed her gaze to wander around the room. She watched the elderly cook tend to her bubbling pots, the hanging light above her flicker, threatening to burn out, and a small, black spider drop in from overhead, hanging by a delicate thread. She listened intently to the sounds of everything around her as well; the sound the soup made when a bubble in it popped, the creak of the door as a new customer entered the shop, the way the floorboards squealed as people walked across the room, sounding as though they would give way any second. The smells were overwhelming, too. Innumerable spices and other ingredients mingled with a small trace of perfume from a young lady sitting not too far away from Sienna and Duncan. Sienna closed her eyes, letting her senses detect everything else they could.
