| Danny didn't exactly know how he became who he was, he didn't really even know who he was, but he did know that if he worked in the fields he could make enough money to get food and clothing for him and his little sister. Unfortunately, there was a lot of hard work involved in getting minimum wage, so Danny trotted to the fields of District Eleven everyday to harvest whatever was in season. Right now it was planting time which meant everyone over a certain age was required to work in the fields to make sure that the crops met the status quo. There was only one time more busy than this, and it was when the crops were harvested. Today was no exception in the planting season, although it rained lightly, causing the dirt trails of the district to be muddy and wet. Rain didn't seem to bother anyone in the district much anymore, as they had gotten used to it by now. Usually the early spring time was always rainy, but this year the rain had been plaguing District Eleven more than usual.
Danny walked to the general area where he was assigned for planting. The planting process wasn't hard, but it was annoying. First you had to pull up all the leftover husks and shells of previously alive plants and dig a hole where they were. Once upon a time there was a machine in the district to help the planting, but it had broken down years ago, and with no help from the Capitol the machine remained broken down. After digging the hole Danny would have to put the seed into the hole and bury it back up. Then he repeated it millions of time. It was long hard work, but it needed to be done. As Danny approached the fields he noticed a kid that he had never seen before in the District or in the fields. Danny walked up to the person, "Uh...hello? Who are you?" | |
