Hey there guys. <3
So as you all know we have the games on the way. 8D
And as the title suggests, the other staffies and I have designed the Arena for you!
We stepped it up a bit this year by myself actually drawing a map of it {Please do excuse my terrible handwriting...D8}, and in this thread I shall be explaining said map, and hopefully I will be able to help you all understand it a bit more. I would advise you to read all of this properly and fully so you don’t miss anything.
(Of course the Gamemakers will be able to change aspects at some points, but we WILL inform you of this during the Games process at the beginning of each Arena day.)
So here we have the Map!:
So we shall start from the left to the right. xD
The first one is rather simple The Capitol lies on the east of the Arena, the parade area (We are aware that the Movie made it look...different, but we can assume the Capitol has been rebuilt since then.), training quarters etc...
Oh and you see that tiny box at the top? That’s where the Game creators control things from.
So, the Cornucopia next, as you should know this is where the Tributes start off, and the reason it is MASSIVE this time is to show that the objects are spread out much further than usual, not all in the horn part, the area that the objects are scattered in even expands into the forests, and goes over the river, some of the objects are on that small island in the river. The famous Cornucopia horn is still in the middle, but only the best objects are placed in there (Primarily the weapons), the rest are just flung about the area in yellow. (Food and water and bags etc...)
THE WEAPONS-Swords
-Daggers
-Bows and Arrows (There are 3 of these but only 2 stashes of arrows.)
-Spears
-Axe (Only 2 are in the arena.)
Weapons are not included in the bags.
THE BAGSIn the bags you can recieve three of the following items. (I personally would advise you use a random number generator to decide or at least try and make it so it's realistic. So a Gamemaker wouldn't give someone three things that are all brilliant. Plus, that isn't as fun to RP.)
The objects you can have are;
- Canvas
- Small knife
- Small bag with three matches
- Bottle of iodine
- Long rope
- A small net
- A bag with few bandages
- Bottle for storing water
- Tents (2 of these are avialble)
Food is scattered around the Cornucopia area also.
Most of the arena is; Mountain’s, Woodland, Swamp or Grassland.
It is important for any Tributes to know what it will be like to fight in each part etc...So here we go:
The Swamps, Lakes and Rivers: These are incredibly boggy swamps. There are little pathways through them, but it is generally extremely hard to find them and the River ‘Mouth’ is too deep and fast for you to swim through, however further up the River it is calmer, and therefore you can swim it. However there is a log which crosses it just to the right of the Cornucopia. {The line across the river.}
The large Lake in the middle is dried up, and is mainly a geyser field with streams, for those people who want to know why there are geysers there; it is because of the mega Volcano in the mountains right next to it. xD (We like our geographical correctness here.)
The rest of the water is normal rivers and Lakes to be honest, there is no real danger in there, and there is Fish in there which can be caught for food.
The Woods: The Woods are pretty much normal Woods. xD Though the ones near the Southern Mountains, are were the Lynxes go hunting (see the Mountain section for more information) The Woods are thick, therefore making Archery next to impossible in there.
The Mountains: Quite a large part of this arena is Mountainous, and naturally that can lead to Caves, though they are just hideouts, there are:
Western Mountains: The Mountains to the left, these are just general mountains, that really have little advantages or disadvantages. They funnel the forest into a deep valley.
Southern and Eastern Mountain range: This one is the IMPORTANT ONE. Now, in the south, this is where the Lynxes stay and they go on hunting raids during the night, therefore making sleep practically impossible. And with the Hours of the Day being off, (THIS WILL BE SHOWN AT THE START OF EACH GAME DAY. E.G Day One: 7 hours of Daylight and 17 hours of Darkness.) that gives the creatures unlimited and un countable hours to hunt for food (THE TRIBUTES), so they can get pretty far flung around the arena, as they are quick and sneaky creatures, though if any Tribute ends up straying towards the southern Mountains at any time, then expect a Lynx attack. xD
The Western part is a normal Mountainous place, but the Lynxes do linger here sometimes, there is a lookout Mountain, a flat based large hill, from which you can see all the way out to the dried up lake.
Central Mountains- This Mountain Range has a lot of things. A waterfall and a stream that leads down into the dried up lake, and then flows downwards to create the main River, it also has the largest Volcano!* With some lava rivers along it, there are also several small caves in this range.
*To the West there is another Volcano, but this one is Extinct. (Note: At the start all Tributes will think they are both active and head straight to the ‘Scar’ Mountains, walking towards the Lynxes.)
Grasslands: Self explanatory really, just open plains of grass, with the odd rock or to, and bushes with berries etc... (Not all are edible though.
)
Other features: At the very top of the map (The North) you will find a Spring which provides quite a peaceful environment, creating a Lake further down. It is high up but there is a visible 'path' up to it. (Which goes through the forests.) To the far right of the Dried up lake you will see were the old source of water (And were a small amount still trickles down.) But to the bank there is a steep ridge which is hard to climb up or down, but it is incredibly easy to slip on.
THE FOOD.In this Arena the sources of food are:
-Fish (From the Lake between the two Volcanoes and the River.)
-Deer, Rabbits etc... (Hunting.) But be warned the dead carcass could attract the Lynxes! D8
-Fruits and berries:
~ Edible
______
-large, red, scattered all over the plains and on river banks
-sweet large yellow/orange fruit. Before it's ripe it can cause sickness, but it's the sweetest thing in the Arena. Found everywhere.
-Lots of plums on the outskirts of the forests and littering the mouth of the dried up lake.
-Many roots and plants are edible.______
~ Unedible
-small blue and red berries, central mountains.
-brown colored vegetable. Weakens immune system, but will not kill unless under certain circumstances. Nearly everywhere.
-deep green colored roots.______
-You drink water from the River and the Lake etc... (The Spring water is the best)
THE ANIMALS-Lynxes
-Deer
-Rabbits
-Fish
-Bears (These stay away from the Tributes though.)
-Mountain Goats. (In the mountains)
-Rodents (Mice, Rats etc...)
-Birds (Various species.)
-Frogs and Toads
-Beavers
-Otters
-Dragonflies
-Various other insects. Spiders, Ants etc...
Some notices:-This Arena has a WALL around it, no advantages by using the border please.
-The lair of the Lynxes is marked on the Map as a Square and it says ‘Lair’.
-To get to the ‘Open Plain’ you need to work your way through the ‘Scar Mountains’ without getting caught by the Lynxes, there are resources in the Open Plain, mainly food.
And I think that’s it guys! –gives a cookie for reading such a long Announcement-
If you have ANY questions about the Arena, then please PM me, and I can update this with any information I have missed. (Along with your Question’s in an updated Question section which shall be editted onto the Announcement.)
Happy Hunger Games! 8D
